A practical switching guide

Start with a clean handover.

Prepare the records you need, test a small sample and choose a clear cutover point. Keep your original exports.

  1. 1. Clean your catalogue and contacts

Give products distinct SKUs and barcodes. Check units, prices, costs and tax settings. Remove duplicate customers and keep phone/email fields consistent. Use the import template and validation preview before committing a full CSV.

  2. 2. Separate products from opening stock

A product import does not establish its physical stock. Count by location, reconcile your source records and use the supported opening-stock or receiving workflow. Include batches and expiry dates where required.

  3. 3. Confirm the money and access rules

Set the base currency before posting transactions. Review taxes, customer credit, staff roles, locations and subscription limits. Ask us about outstanding balances and historical documents rather than assuming they import automatically.

  4. 4. Rehearse a working day

In a test workspace, pair a register, open a shift and practise a sale, return, invoice and stock receipt. Check printing and your connection. Confirm offline sales have synced before resetting a test device.

  5. 5. Reconcile before you switch

Compare product counts, opening stock, balances and sample documents with your previous system. Keep an export and decide who owns the final checks and the first day's support.
